How to apply
1. Register for the Kent Test
Register with Kent County Council in Year 5. For the September 2026 test (September 2027 entry) registration opened on Monday 1 June 2026 and closed on Wednesday 1 July 2026. Registration is free and done online through KCC.
2. Sit the test (September, Year 6)
Two multiple-choice papers - English & maths, plus reasoning - and an unmarked writing exercise. Pupils at a Kent primary school sit it on Thursday 10 September 2026; everyone else sits it at a Kent test centre on the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2026.
3. Get the result (October)
Results day is Thursday 15 October 2026, before the 31 October secondary application deadline.
4. Apply through KCC (by 31 October)
List Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School on your KCC Secondary Common Application Form. You can list up to 4 schools in preference order.
5. National Offer Day (1 March)
You'll be told your allocated school by email. If 1 March falls on a weekend or bank holiday, offers go out the next working day - for 2026 entry KCC emailed offers on Monday 2 March 2026. Appeals open shortly after.
Didn't get a place? You can appeal
If Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School is not offered on National Offer Day, you can appeal the decision. For 2026 entry, secondary appeals had to be lodged by Monday 30 March 2026 and were heard by Wednesday 17 June 2026. The appeal is heard by an independent panel and is free to submit.
