About Bright Start Tutors
Bright Start Tutors was set up by two former primary teachers who kept meeting families who had left Kent Test preparation far too late and were trying to cram a year of work into a summer. The whole approach here is built around starting earlier and doing less each week.
Sessions run from a small centre near Sevenoaks station and online. Every child is assessed at the start so parents get an honest view of whether a selective route is genuinely the right fit, rather than being sold a course regardless.
All tutors are qualified teachers with enhanced DBS checks, and the centre caps group sessions at six children so nobody drifts to the back of the room.

Questions parents ask
When should we start Kent Test preparation?
We generally suggest the spring of Year 4 or the autumn of Year 5. That gives enough runway to work at a gentle pace rather than cramming through the summer before the test.
Do you guarantee a pass?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Passing the Kent Test qualifies a child to be considered for a grammar place; it does not guarantee one, and no tutor controls the outcome.
What if selective school is not right for our child?
We will tell you. The initial assessment exists partly so families can make that call early, with information, rather than after a difficult year.
